The Leopard 2A5 is an advanced variant of the German Leopard 2 main battle tank, developed by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. Introduced in the mid-1990s, the 2A5 marked a significant upgrade over earlier models, focusing on improved protection and combat efficiency. It featured wedge-shaped add-on armour to better deflect enemy fire, particularly from shaped-charge warheads, and upgraded internal systems, including a digital fire-control system and improved gun stabilisation.
